Really Strategies Develops and Launches New Content Management System for F. A. Davis Company

LANSDALE, Pa.–June 24, 2003–Really Strategies, an independent content management and publishing solutions firm, recently redesigned health science publisher F.A. Davis Company's Content Management System. F.A. Davis' "Content Browser" is an XML-based content repository and workflow system currently used to facilitate editorial review and the production process for one of its core print and electronic products. Additional titles are targeted for integration in the near future.

Really Strategies teamed up with F.A. Davis to conduct a complete analysis of the current system. Really Strategies extracted detailed functional requirements from the analysis phase to architect and develop a completely new system. As a result, the Content Browser system was expanded to manage multiple content repositories, including those comprising non-XML content. Additionally, some tasks previously managed by a database administrator are now managed within the application by the appropriate editor, allowing for better editorial management of content files.

"We've been working with Really Strategies on a variety of projects for the past 3 years," said Ralph Zickgraf, manager of electronic publishing, at F.A. Davis Company. "The approach we used for this system redesign ensures that users of the system have the tools necessary to do their work more efficiently and the system can be extended to include additional content."

"F.A. Davis Company required a flexible, scalable content management system for both XML and non-XML content," stated Jeff Wood, director, content engineering at Really Strategies. "Conducting a thorough analysis of the current system, interviewing users, and understanding future publishing objectives allowed us to design and build a system that will meet their business needs well into the future."
