Really Strategies, Inc. and New York University's Center for Publishing Team Up for Research and Education Projects in Electronic Publishing

NEW YORK, Ny. and LANSDALE, Pa.–April 15, 2002–Really Strategies, Inc., a Lansdale, PA-based independent publishing solutions consultant, and the Center for Publishing at New York University have formed an alliance dedicated to conducting important industry research to help inform the publishing industry about opportunities and challenges with new systems and technologies.

The first research project, The [Bracket] Report - Publishers' Adoption of Content Management Systems and Technologies, will be completed and published in May. The market study is the result of comprehensive interviews conducted in March and April by NYU's Center for Publishing with more than fifty publishers, editorial directors, and chief information officers.

The Really Strategies, Inc. and NYU cooperative study initially targets publishers of print and electronic products in the scientific, technical and medical (STM) market segment. The focus is on content management - how publishers use processes and technology to move content from manuscript to distribution on multiple media platforms. According to the Center's director, Robert Baensch, "with the potential of technology's applications to help publishers control costs and launch new products more quickly, electronic publishing and production are on most publishers' priority lists."

"Publishers are bombarded with messages about content management, rights management, asset management - each with its own set of acronyms, technologies and jargon," says Bennett Zucker, Vice President of Really Strategies, Inc. Therefore, the research project was developed to focus on content management as the first cooperative effort, he says, because "we felt that a benchmark was needed - unbiased information that would enable publishers to measure themselves against others like them who are faced with big investment decisions in otherwise uncharted territory."
