Kaplan EduNeering Implements RSuite to Integrate Content Management Strategy with Learning Management System
Background: Kaplan EduNeering is part of Kaplan, Inc., a leading global provider of educational services to individuals, schools and businesses. Kaplan EduNeering develops technology-enabled knowledge solutions for assuring regulatory compliance and improving business performance. Content output includes 600 standard courses and over 3,500 custom developed courses and learning modules. Kaplan EduNeering required a new content management system to manage the process of creating courses for deployment to its Learning Management System.
Solution: Upon the successful completion of a proof of concept project, Kaplan EduNeering selected RSuite as its content management system. Really Strategies led a project team comprising Kaplan EduNeering staff as well as RSuite engineers who configured the content management system to streamline workflow from content creation through delivery. Working in an iterative implementation approach allowed the joint team to forego extensive detailed requirements and to move as quickly as possible into actual development based on known requirements. Experiencing the solution as it was being configured allowed editorial and production staff to interact with the system to update content, apply metadata, and assign content to specific courses. The team was able to react immediately to the in-progress build.
Result: RSuite’s workflow engine streamlines the dissemination of content at various stages to staff for editorial review. When content is designated as final, RSuite transforms DITA XML and delivers SCORM-compliant XML to Kaplan EduNeering’s Learning Management System. Implementing RSuite enables Kaplan EduNeering to:
- recognize more revenue through better and faster content updates to its Learning Management System
- automate delivery of SCORM packages
- reduce costs during content development
- support new course and modified course processes
