Editorial Projects in Education
New Business Strategy and the System to Support It
Background: Editorial Projects in Education Inc. (EPE) publishes Education Week and Teacher Magazine, and produces the award-winning edweek.org and AgentK-12.org. EPE's primary mission is to help raise the level of awareness and understanding among professionals and the public of important issues in American education. EPE covers local, state, and national news and issues from preschool through the 12th grade. EPE also provides periodic special reports on issues ranging from technology to textbooks, as well as books of special interest to educators.
Solution: Really Strategies worked with EPE to develop an overall business strategy for moving from a free site to a registration/subscription-based site. The current infrastructure was not scalable to meet the new business requirements, so Really Strategies worked with EPE to define requirements for a new web-based production system and web delivery platform. After defining requirements for both the back-end production and front-end functionality, Really Strategies led the implementation of the new web CMS and delivery methods, as well as the launch of the new web site.
Result: As a result of working with Really Strategies, edweek.org is now able to:
Implementing RSuite enables CQ Press to:
- Separate its content offerings into free, registered, and subscription levels
- Enable site visitors to access content through more sophisticated searching, topical browsing, or personalized news preferences
- Expand their internal systems to meet evolving business needs
